TIBETAN MASTIFFS

Welcome to Aujudon Tibetan Mastiffs.
We are an AKC Breeder of Merit!!!
We have puppies planned for the Fall!
I'm currently re-doing our website and will be adding pages as I finish them.

FUSO
We acquired our first Tibetan Mastiffs in the early 90’s. Currently, we have 14 TM’s, with three generations present. They range in age from 7 years old down to yearlings.
They are primarily our beloved companions and guardians first, but we also love to show!
We show mostly in the Southeast, but have also attended prestigious events such as Westminster, Eukanuba and Bucks County.
Over the years, we’ve been the home and breeders to Best in Show winners, the #1 Tibetan Mastiff, Top Ten Tibetan Mastiffs, Top 5 Tibetan Mastiffs, National Specialty Winners, Best Veteran, Best Stud Dog, Best in Puppy Sweepstakes.

We’ve also has the Top Producing Brood Bitch,(based on number of championships earned by her offspring in one year).
Numerous dogs of ours have qualified for Eukanuba as Bred By Exhibitor AKC Champions, since AKC inception. We’ve also has Top 25 Dogs as qualifiers.
In addition, we’ve had several Top 5 TM’s that have been invited to Westminster!
All of our litters have produced Champions and Bred By Exhibitor Champions!
Of our 14 Tibetan Mastiffs, 5 are AKC champions, or Grand champions with all achieving their championships from the Bred-By Exhibitor class. We take great pride in being owner/handlers!
2 are heavily pointed and we expect to finish them this year. We have 4 yearlings of our breedings who we will be showing this year and hope to finish their championships from the Bred By Exhibitor class as well.
We are a current member of the AKC Parent Club for Tibetan Mastiffs.
Tibetan Mastiffs have a rich history with the Tibetan people. They were used for millenniums as guardians for the nomadic camps, villages and monasteries. Often they were chained at the entryways of tents and monasteries. At night, in the villages, they were turned loose to roam, to keep the village safe. Many images can be found of TM’s on rooftops enjoying an advantageous view for their guarding.

Although some sources voice that TM’s are very destructive, I have found that given good guidance, training, plenty of exercise and ample chew toys, TM’s make very pleasant housedogs. TM’s are very intelligent and need plenty of stimulation to keep from being bored. As natural flock and home guardians, TM’s need a job to do and space to exercise in. If not given a job, and daily stimulation, they will find plenty of outlets for their energy, and some may not be positive.
Our TM's of the past were raised with our children and they did very well together! As wiith any child/dog relationship, their must be boundaries and mutual respect.
Our children are grown now, but we continue with each litter of puppies, our young adults and adults to have them around children. We often have young people who are interested in showing and learning about dogs, accompany us to shows to help us handle.

They are not for everyone, as they are very independent, can be very aloof, and although very trainable, many do not enjoy the repetitiveness of formal obedience. You must use different methods to keep a TM interested and entertained.

TM’s come into estrus one time a year, in the fall, with puppies born usually from December through March.
TM’s must be socialized and have early training to become good, companionable adults.

Our TM’s have the run of the house and enjoy going to work with me everyday. They live with 3 cats, 4 horses and 3 goats. They love and guard all of them. A TM with a job is a happy TM!

Although the TM has been recognized worldwide for many years, they are fairly new in AKC. Please contact us for breed information, breeding plans, and ongoing news, as the TM makes it mark in the AKC World.
